Speaker on stage at Water OT/IT Cyber Summit in Huntsville, Alabama
The cyber team is assessing operational technology in forestry, poultry, and rural water industries to identify cybersecurity risks, understand attack surfaces, and build resilience. By reviewing past, present, and emerging technologies, they aim to prevent future incidents while building trust through open-source intelligence, vulnerability assessments, policy support, training, and guidance.

Recent Projects:

This year, AURPI's Cyber Security Team has made progress in advancing cybersecurity for rural industries and critical infrastructure focusing on forestry, poultry, and water sectors.
In September 2025, the Cyber Team organized and hosted the first-ever Water OT/IT Cyber Summit in Huntsville, Alabama. The summit brought together over 150 people consisting of water and wastewater operators, engineering integrators, security solution vendors, military, education, federal agencies, and consultants to discuss industry challenges and collaborative solutions. The keynote address was delivered by John Garstka, an SES from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Cyber Warfare Director for Acquisition and Sustainment.
This event spurred collaboration with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Alabama National Guard, EMA, County, City, and Utility representatives who are working to ensure rapid response and resource allocation for units responding to cyber-attacks.
Recently, the Cyber Team began drafting a cybersecurity best practices guide tailored for audiences with varying levels of technical expertise, from management to non-technical personnel. This guide aims to broaden awareness and understanding of cybersecurity principles across diverse stakeholders.
